The digits added to my advantage,
This year was expected to sail through.
Planetary interventions and what not,
I await desparately an year new.

This year I've been to the abyss, lost my breath,
And still came back alive somehow,
Helped me back to my original self,
The one who questions - What, why ,how?

Was this the transition of this man into superman?
I have doubts if the boy ever grew up.
Foundations inadvertently laid long ago,
Are indeed difficult to usurp.

This year must end, it will end.
So must this trail of time.
The course ahead,
Life needs to be steered through,
Through strengths combined,
Ours, yours and mine.

If doubts ever cloud your mind,
Remind yourself of this quote I like,
' When you are the anvil, Bear.
When you are the hammer, Strike.'

Check mate

This one comes with lots of love.
And with blessings of your lord residing somewhere above.

Don't believe any story I tell you,
Out of my life, I've kicked you.

If I ever let you in, you know how it would be,
Nothing more of you, I can bear to see.

If there ever was  a God  other than me,
He shall die witnessing the world I let be.

No love

Love knows no cowardice,
Even to a man this nice.
You shall get to eat my boots,
The lovers of my life, my discarded roots.

I can't teach you love, if that's what you seek,
Divinity is what I'm here to preach,
Your soul becomes a lifeless leech,
The moment, my principles, you breach.

What a waste this life has been,
Running on ad-hoc spares,
I look forward to another life,
One that doesn't need  any repairs.

Before you would even realise,
I would have said my goodbyes.

The Son of the Sun

Individual conscience,
Defines universes all the time.
Holds true for the Gods,
And for the world that's mine.

On one auspicious day,
When the stars finally aligned,
I met my destiny,
The destiny to which i had resigned.

The universe ceased to exist,
The very day it was born,
Collapsed into a black hole,
Hungry, reeking of scorn.

In its abyss, I lay,
The abyss that's nothing but me.
I destroyed everything I could see,
And then, I just let it be.

When I take a shit

An empire of lies,
She created for the two of them
To reign over.

All it takes is one rumour,
To take down all you ever built,
She says.

If the coworker forfeits duty,
The collapse is his fault,
He says.

What joy it is,
To realise the individual that you are,
No one completes you, no one can,
Responsible for no one, you are.

The world lives on,
So shall you.
Grow up child, if you can,
Beyond your childhood lessons
of false and true.

The arrival of the God's child

He can no longer not fight,
For what has always been his
Of all the lows and ebbs,
It's finally come down to this.

The last one of his clan,
And his numerous half-hearted failed baits,
He needs to make it work this time,
The true almighty with baited breath, waits.

The God's child will slay them all,
In their wars, the demigods cleverly designed.
He's let go off all that ever bound,
For this material glory, he's now destined.

Shedding his godly robes,
He walks naked into this world tonight,
The day he manages to fulfill the prophecy,
Won't that be a sight?

Short stories

You come,
I think,
I predict,
I play,
You screw,
I drink,
I win.
You quit.

Simple are the stories in my head.
All characters, In the end, are always dead .

When I met a stranger

He who has no songs in his praise,
He who toils in silence through the day,
It's part of his skin now,
The tired look on his face,
Needs, he needs to take care of
The finances should be in place.

And since he's got a gun between his legs,
He needs to forever be the man he is,
Feelings he can't let show, sharing them is a sin,
The turmoil inside, he comes to terms with it,
When a man of his mettle, lends him an ear,
He whispers to him the story that is his .

Growing up, we forget our own stories,
In evenings like these, we try to recollect,
How it would have felt to live those moments
Moments that are part of our history today.
